Akon kennen we allemaal van hits als ‘Smack That’, ‘Don’t Matter’ en ‘Beautiful’, maar de laatste tijd hoorden we geen hitjes meer uit zijn naam op de radio. Niet gek want Mr. Akon is druk bezig geweest met zijn project ‘The Solar Academy’ in Bamako, Mali.

“We have the sun and innovative technologies to bring electricity to homes and communities. We now need to consolidate African expertise,” aldus Samba Baithily, mede-oprichter van Akon Lighting Africa, tegen Reuters. “We expect the Africans who graduate from this center to devise new, innovative, technical solutions With this Academy, we can capitalize on Akon Lighting Africa and go further.”
