Wolfgang Tillmans wint The 2015 Hasselblad Photography Award

De Duitse fotograaf Wolfgang Tillams heeft de hoogste prijs gewonnen in The Hasselblad Foundation Internation Award in Photography en zal zijn prijs van 1 miljoen SEK ($120,000 USD) in ontvangst nemen tijdens de officiële ceremonie in Gothenburg, Zweden op 30 november 2015. Deze prijs wordt gezien als één van de meest prestigieuze prijzen op het gebied van fotografie. Op 1 december 2015 zal een tentoonstelling worden gehouden in het Hasselblad Center waar Tillman’s werk en zijn boek worden getoond. In een statement valt te lezen:

“Wolfgang Tillmans has established himself among the most original and innovative artists of his generation, constantly pushing the photographic medium in new directions. His practice has covered subjects of pressing political and social importance since the 1990s, reflecting both directly and indirectly on the power of the photographic image to engage critically with the world around us.”
