Het is één van ‘s werelds mooiste steden en uw redacteur zou niets liever willen dan een persreisje te maken naar ‘The Big Apple’ (wie heeft wat in de aanbieding?) Desalniettemin zou ik er voorlopig nog even niet heengaan, het is er namelijk belachelijk-belachelijk-belachelijk koud! Op Instagram, Twitter en Facebook sneeuwt het berichten (ha-ha) met klachten over de ijzige dagen. CBS Evening News leek het leuk om een helikopter de lucht in te sturen en de stad van boven vast te leggen. Wow, zo mooi!

Gisteravond was het weer tijd voor de alom geprezen, befaamde Oscars. Uiteraard gehost door Neil Patrick Harris die weer een bizarre actie had. Dit keer trok hij al z’n kleding uit (tot boxer) voor een grap, Onder andere Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel en Alejandro G. Inarritu mochten prijzen in ontvangst nemen. Amsterdam host “Drone Circus”
Drones winnen steeds meer en meer aan populariteit. Ook in het Nederlandse luchtruim vliegen zo nu en dan wat drones rond. Onlangs werd een jongeman in Utrecht nog bekeurd omdat hij waanzinnig mooie beelden maakte van de Dom in de ochtendluwte. Desalniettemin: drones are the future.
Niets voor niets dat Amsterdam heeft aangekondigd ‘s werelds eerste “Drone Circus” te hosten. Het evenement zal AIR 2015 gaan heten en is mede georganiseerd door the Royal Netherlands Air Force. Volgens de website gaat het zeer spectaculair worden: “In this high energy and explosive show, drones will take centre stage to bring a collaboration and fusion of music, video, projections and special effects. AIR allows you to experience a variety of ballet and battles, races and lasers, circus illusions and most of all magic from hundreds of drones.”
Koffie die je helpt slapen
Uw redacteur houdt wel een bakkie. Het liefst zo’n zeven tot tien per dag. Dit in het tijdsbestek van ‘s ochtends 10 uur tot ‘s middags 16:00, hierna schakelen we over op thee omdat ik ‘s nachts door alle cafeïne niet in slaap kan vallen.Deland Jessop en zijn vrouw vonden dat vervelend (niet voor mij, maar het algemene probleem) en besloten een koffie te ontwikkelen die het slapen bevordert. Counting Sheep Coffee is de naam en is een blend van de valeriaan plant en koffie zonder cafeïne.
“Instead of a glass of wine, we’ll brew up a cup of coffee instead,” zegt Jessop, die zijn bedrijf in 2013 lanceerde. “In the studies that have been done, it’s been show to be safe […] It has a long traditional history of being used to induce sleep.”

De nominaties voor de 87ste Oscar awards show zijn bekendgemaakt. 22 februari, 2015 zullen de prijswinnaars bekend worden gemaakt. Met name Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s film Birdman en Richard Linklater’s Boyhood gooien nu al hoge ogen. Alhoewel The Grand Budapest Hotel negen nominaties wist te verzamelen.
