“SKIN DEEP” by Steven Burton

Voor een nieuw project genaamd “Skin Deep”,  heeft fotograaf Steven Burton 27 gang members in LA gefotografeerd en gedigitaliseerd. Daar bleef het niet bij want Burton wendde zich tot Photoshop waarna hij de bendeleden stripte van de tattoo’s. De inspiratie kwam uit de documentaire G-Dog. 

“After watching the film, I was inspired by Father Greg Boyle and equally inspired and moved by the homeboys/girls trying to change their lives against the odds,” aldus Burton in een interview met PetaPixel. “I knew I had to do something to help spread awareness. The concept came to me when I learned that tattoo removal was such an important part of leaving the gangs.”
